Through the Changes

I’ve always thought that the span of the entire year can be compared to one single day.

Winter is the night, dark and peaceful, the very best time to snuggle in and dream. Spring is the morning, cool and bright, nipping at you with the possibilities of the day. Summer is the afternoon full of fun and laughter.

Fall is the very best hours of the evening, reading with a child, tucking them into bed, having meaningful conversations with your partner that go beyond, “how was your day”. Feeling the weight of the day slide away and letting it go because it’s time to unwind and relax. It’s the time to congratulate ourselves for what we accomplished and forgive ourselves for what remains on the list for another time. Fall is Mother Nature’s way of reminding us that everyone needs a break, we all need to breathe and enjoy those quiet times before we sleep.

As a mother, I know there are days when bedtime for the kiddos can’t come soon enough. I often wake up feeling more than a little ‘vintage’. That’s one of the things that makes me smile when I see this tablecloth. Everything about it makes me smile. I love the pattern, I love the perfect capture of the colors of fall. I love that it’s vintage, which is a lovely way of saying, ‘banged up but still pretty’, just like me.

Love yourselves, love your tribe, enjoy the evenings.
